Like-for-like sales, broadband on the effect of the new area of the workshop, was increased by 0 5pc compared to the previous year to growth 1pc in August on RBC KPMG retail sales monitor.
That growth has come primarily from the sale of food, but improvement was driven in part by the increase in food prices.
With sales of non-food fell on a year for the first time since the mid-2009.

Furniture and floor coverings remained productive worst sector pursuant to dark recent data pointing to a stagnation of the housing market.
