SAIC Motor Corp. to sell cars MG in Britain by General Motors dealers

SAIC Motor Corp., which has been owner of MG Rover since 2007, has been a partner with long-term GM China and seeks to build on the relationship.


The Chinese company inherited from MG Rover Longbridge plant in Birmingham, after the merger with rival Nanjing Automobile Group.


It will begin to assemble the tailgate of 6 MG in China and Great Britain in the first quarter of 2011, a GM dealer network sharing agreement would give access to UK consumers.


"We have agreed in a memorandum of understanding that us discuss MG will be distributed to the United Kingdom potential", said Kevin Wale, President and CEO of GM China operations Summit China Reuters investment. "This is what we are doing at the moment."


A partnership between GM and SAIC allowed the car manufacturer to sell vehicles of 2.2 m - including Buick, Chevrolet and Cadillac - China trademark already this year. Sharing a network of dealers in the United Kingdom would be an extension of that relationship.


Meanwhile, most major car makers planet - Toyota, GM, Volkswagen - predicts that China car sales would lead the u.s. market for the third consecutive year.


Companies believe that sales increase by 15pc nation Asian industrialization quickly next year.


The Chinese Government is going to put an end to incentives to buy new cars contributed to increase sales by 34pc 16 m this year, but the car is always positive for the coming year.


Co and Booz analysts believe car sales could reach 20 m next year. Chinese passenger car sales excluding trucks and buses, reached 12.45 m for the year so far.
