Rolls-Royce may replace 40 Airbus A380 engines

Accounts numbers for nearly half of the Trent 900 engines powerup command operated by Qantas, Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa German, and follows an extensive checks after November 4 for the Indonesia explosion.

"Rollers may have to look at alternative up to 40 engines throughout the A380 fleet" Qantas spokesperson told AFP.

"Which includes the fleet and Singapore Lufthansa.De fleet obviously Qantas has 40 engines to replace, we have six aircraft with four engines each,", she added.

Qantas Chief Alan Joyce said that up to 14 A380 company engines could potentially need to be replaced, leaving unclear when its fleet command will resume the flying their routes in Los Angeles and London.

Rolls-Royce was already change engines to prevent oil leaks, but none of the turbines of Qantas has been updated, said Mr. Joyce.
